Images Speak Louder Than Text

Facebook has changed it’s algorithm to favor Image posts and link sharing rather than text only based updates.  So pay attention to what you post, link more longer text content to your blog or website rather than posting all in your FB status and ensure you include an image that will encourage client engagement.

We have known this for some time in terms of effectiveness, now FB has just made that change as part of it’s algorithm.

We know too that the amount of information getting thrown at people is overwhelming so it is highly unlikely that text will trump an image.  All of us have shorter and shorter attention spans online which means we are giving marketers less and less time to capture our attention.

It is a visual experience and becoming increasingly true for mobile users too as they are on the move and are reluctant to read long text based updates, unless they are drawn to it, i.e. via an image!

Remember this image from 2011?

Australian Scott Jones kisses his Canadian girlfriend Alex Thomas after she was knocked to the ground by a police officer’s riot shield in Vancouver, British Columbia. Canadians rioted after the Vancouver Canucks lost the Stanley Cup to the Boston Bruins.

Try say that in words!
